Our Staff

Veronica Luzzi, Ph.D., DABCC, is the Director of the CLCS. Dr. Luzzi's most important role is to set the level of quality to be attained in all work conducted by the CLCS. She is usually the first point of contact for new projects coming into the CLCS and she decides which projects will be undertaken, basing such decisions upon scientific merit of the projects, and the availability of CLCS resources to perform the work properly. Dr. Luzzi maintains contact with study sponsors and continually monitors and assesses study progress and quality. She also maintains the academic link between the development of new assays, procedures and concepts and the CLCS.

Dr. Luzzi received her training as a fellow in clinical chemistry under the direction of Dr. Ladenson. After completing her fellowship, she was appointed Associate Director of the Chemistry Laboratory at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, and Assistant Professor with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She holds an M.S. in Clinical Biochemistry from the Universidad Nacional de Rosario in Argentina and a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of California at Irvine. She has held a variety of research positions with the University of California, the Beckman Research Institute of the City of Hope, and Washington University in St. Louis. Her publications include peer-reviewed articles in Clinical Chemistry, Journal of Biological Chemistry, the American Journal of Pathology, and Analytical Biochemistry.
